A series of seemingly random killings is announced in advance to Hercule Poirot by a taunting letter signed only ‘ABC’ — Mrs Ascher at Andover, Betty Barnard at Bexhill, Sir Carmichael Clarke at Churston — each victim's initials matching the town, and an ABC railway guide left open beside every body. As the alphabet advances towards its end, Poirot must find the pattern behind the apparent madness.
Collins Crime Club facsimile hardback (2012), a faithful reproduction of the 1936 first edition in its original dust jacket. Price inscription on first page, slight creasing at the edge of the dust jacket, but looks unread.
